Surah Al-Fusillat, Verse 34;

Remark Surah Al-Fusillat, Verse 34:
`Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that Ibn `Abbas explained this Ayah: “Allah commands the believers to be patient when they feel angry, to be forbearing when confronted with ignorance, and to forgive when they are ill treated. If they do this, Allah will save them from the Shaytan and subdue their enemiesto them until they become like close friends.”

Surah Ash-Shuara, Verses 131-134;

Remark Surah Ash-Shuara, Verses 131-134:
The people of Aad lived after the time of Prophet Nuh in the Ahqaf, curved sand-hills near Hadramawt, on the borders of Yemen. The `Ad were physically strong, tall, well-built, and very violent. Allah had also given them a great deal of provisions, wealth, gardens, rivers, sons, crops and fruit. Yet despite all that they had received from Allah, they worshiped others besides Allah. So Allah sent Hud, one of their own, as a Messenger conveying to them good news and warnings. He called them to worship Allah alone, and warned them of Allah’s wrath and punishment if they went against him.
“He it is Who enables you to travel through land and sea, till when you are in the ships, and they sail with them with a favorable wind, and they are glad therein, then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think that they are encircled therein. Then they invoke Allah, making their faith pure for Him alone, (saying): “If You (Allah) deliver us from this, we shall truly, be of the grateful.”

Surah Yonus, Verses 22, 23;

Remark Surah Yonus, Verses 22, 23:
“If You (Allah) deliver us from this, we shall truly, be of the grateful” but “when He delivers them, behold! They rebel (disobey Allah) in the earth wrongfully” i.e., they forget that hardship and that dua, and what they committed themselves to, and they associate others with Allah whom they acknowledge cannot save them from hardships or protect them from difficulty.

Surah Al-Muminoon, Verses 12 – 16;

Remark Surah Al-Muminoon, Verses 12 – 16:
In these verses, our attention is drawn to the creation of man and the universe to impress that the whole universe including man’s own self, is a clear proof of the truth of the Holy Prophet’s Message, which invites the people to accept Tauhid and life in the Hereafter.

Surah Al-Anfal Verse 2 - 4;

Remark Surah Al-Anfal Verse 2 - 4:
The primary point is that the one of the signs of a true believer is that when Allah is mentioned, he of she feels His awe and fears Him in his or her heart, and thus implements His orders and abstains from His prohibitions. About such people, Sufyan Ath-Thawri narrated that As-Suddi commented, “A man might be thinking of committing injustice or a sin. But he abstains when he is told, `Have Taqwa of Allah’, and his heart becomes fearful.”

Surah Ar-Raad Verse 8 - 10;

Remark Surah Ar-Raad Verse 8 - 10:
Allah affirms His perfect knowledge, from which nothing is hidden.
He has complete knowledge of whatever every female creature is carrying – whether male or female, fair or ugly, miserable or happy, whether it will have a long or a short life.
Allah remains fully aware of all the developments that take place in the child while in its mother’s womb, and He watches over the decrease or increase in each of its limbs, and its potentialities, capabilities and powers.
Everything with Him is in proportion “for a term appointed.”
Allah has the records of the provisions and terms of His creation and made an appointed term for everything.
He is the One and the Only Lord for all the universe, its Creator, Owner, Organizer, Provider, Master, Planner, Sustainer, Cherisher, and Giver of security.
Allah declares that His knowledge is encompassing all of His creation.
Nothing ever escapes His observation – even if people wish to hide something from Him.

Surah Yasin Verse 82;

Remark Surah Yasin Verse 82:
He only needs to command a thing once; it does not need to be repeated or confirmed. When Allah wants a thing to happen, He only says to it: “Be!” once, and it is. Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Messenger of Allah said: ” (Allah, may He be exalted, says: “O My servants, all of you are sinners apart from those whom I protect from sin. Seek My forgiveness and I will forgive you. All of you are in need except for those whom I make independent. I am Most Generous, Majestic, and I do whatever I will. My giving is a word and My punishment is a word. When I want a thing to happen I merely say to it `Be!’ and it is.”)

Surah As-Saff Verse 2-3;

Remark Surah As-Saff Verse 2-3:
One meaning of these verses is that there should be complete agreement between a true Muslim’s word and deed: he should carry into effect whatever he says, and when he has no intention of doing it, or has no power for it, he should not say it. To say one thing and do another is one of the most hideous characteristics of man, in the sight of Allah. The Holy Prophet (upon whom be Allah’s peace) has explained that a person’s being characterized by this quality is a sign that he is not a believer but a hypocrite. According to a Hadith he said;
The hypocrite has three signs even if he offered the Prayer and observed the Fast, and professed to be a Muslim: That then he spoke he lied; when he made a promise, he broke it; and when he was entrusted with something, he proved dishonest. ”(Bukhari, Muslim).
In another Hadith he said:
“Four characteristics are such that the one who has all the four, is a hypocrite through and through, and the one who has one of these, has one characteristic of hypocrisy in him until he gives it up: that when he is entrusted with something, he proves dishonest; when he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he quarrels he crosses all limits of morality and decency.” (Bukhari, Muslim).
The jurists of Islam have almost unanimously held the view that if a person makes a pledge to AIlah (e.g.. vows to do something), or enters an agreement with others, or promised somebody to do something, it is obligatory for him to fulfill it, unless the thing he has promised is by itself sinful. If it is sinful, he should not observe or carry out the agreement or promise, but should expiate its violation as is also mentioned in Surah AI-Ma’idah. (AI-Jassas and Ibn al’Arabi, Ahkam al-Qur-an an). [Source: Tafheem Al-Quran by Sheikh Abul A’la Moududi].
When we remember Allah, He remembers us. Let’s reflect on the following verse and some of the the Ahadith of the prophet to see the benefits of remembering Allah.

Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 152;

Remark Surah Al-Baqarah Verse 152:
Allah says, I am just as My slave thinks I am, (i.e. I am Able to do for him what he thinks I can do for him) and I am with him if he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than them; and if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.9, Hadîth No.502).
And Abu Dawood narrated from Abu’l-Dardaa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Shall I not tell you of the best of your deeds and that which is most pure in the sight of your Lord, that which raises you more in status and is better for you than giving gold and silver (in charity), and better than your meeting your enemy and striking their necks and they strike your necks?’ They said, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ He said, ‘Remembering Allah (dhikr).’”

Surah Hadeed Verse 22;

Remark Surah Hadeed Verse 22:
The prophet (S.A.W.S.) said:
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas, Once I was behind the Prophet and he said: “O boy, I will teach you a few words:
Be loyal and obedient to Allâh [worship Him (Alone)], remember Him always, obey His Orders. He will save you from every evil and will take care of you in all the spheres of life.
Be loyal and obedient to Allâh, you will find Him near (in front of you) i.e. He will respond to your requests.
If you ask, ask Allâh.
If you seek help, seek help from Allah.
Know that if all the people get together in order to benefit you with something, they will not be able to benefit you in anything except what Allâh has decreed for you. And if they all get together in order to harm you with something, they will not be able to harm you in anything except what Allâh has decreed for you.
The pens have stopped writings [Divine (Allâh’s) Preordainments]. And (the ink over) the papers (Book of Decrees) has dried.”

Surah Mujadila Verse 7;

Remark Surah Mujadila Verse 7:
In this verse Allah the Exalted informs us of His knowledge encompassing all creation, observing it, hearing and seeing every thing and every one, wherever they may be and in whatever condition they may be.
This verse while calling our attention to Allah’s Omniscience also helps us form the correct perspective about His (SWT)’s Omnipresence. As Allah’s vision grasps everything, we feel that He The All Knower is present every where. But He tells us that His Knowledge encompasses all while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven.
When we are told that Allah is the fourth in a counsel of three and sixth in a counsel of five, and so on, we don’t think of His presence as a physical presence, but we associate it with His infinite and all encompassing knowledge and vision.
When we think of any entity as ‘present everywhere’ we are still thinking of a physical entity. But Allah is not to be visualized as such. As His vision grasps everything and nothing escapes His Knowledge, He is understood to be present everywhere.
The verse highlights the need for us to be always conscious of being in Allah’s view. We are therefore never alone. Our actions should be according to what is acceptable to Him and what pleases Him so that our meeting with Him on the Day of Resurrection would be our greatest happiness.
